Free Spire Proxy Server – Siri Alternative

Posted by EliteTek on Jan 2, 2012 in Hacking & Exploits

Hello ETek Readers,

As you’re all probably very aware of the new Spire application available in Cydia which allows you to connect and utilize the Siri service provided via Apple without the need for an iPhone 4S. The problem is you’ll need to connect to a proxy server which has the 4S tokens attatched to it.

I’ve decided as a side project i’m going to setup a server located on the Amazon EC2 servers for 100% performance/stability and assurance to its users.

The reason i’m going to be charging for this service is due to the fact i’m going to buy over 4+ iPhone 4s UNITS.

This will allow me to have 4+ tokens in which i can refresh and host multiple proxies over, this reduces server load and allows my users to have a fast and professionalism Spire experience.

Due to the fact that so many people are scamming innocent people out of their money i’ll be hosting this service for FREE for the first week of launch, i’ll allow my commentors to blog and review my service and will post their links/blogs in another post after that week is up.

This bandwidth will cost me a lot, but will also allow me to show my readers that this is in fact the real deal.

The server will be over a HTTPS connection.

POST IN THE COMMENTS BELOW TO RESERVE YOUR SLOT FOR THE FREE ONE WEEK BETA REVIEW OF THE SPIRE PROXY SERVICE.

Update: I’m adding all of your emails to a list and will be selecting 20 of you at complete random. Looking forward to getting this tested and approved!

Update #2: Sorry about the website down time, my host couldn’t keep up with your traffic! Ok keep commenting I’m listing you all and the server I’ve setup will cater for 50 slots only split between two dedicated IPs.. Depending on bandwidth costs I might setup another.

Update #3: Ok, so i’m currently scanning eBay for iPhone 4s, i’ve not asked anyone for donations and won’t until this has been tested and confirmed. Please refrain from putting your email address publicly, attach it your comment/username this will stop scammers and spammers grabbing your details. If anyone asks you for money or donations for any kind of siri service make sure you’ve got proof the service they’ve got is ledgit. Many people are currently getting scammed.

Update #4: Due to recent changes in the way i can allow higher security for my proxy users i’m pushing this ahead at full throttle, one week to go until this will go OPEN. Keep posting your interest guys, i’ll be creating a random script which will query my comments table out of my MySQL DB, the line it selects each time will be the user i pick for each slot. Pretty simple method and makes it easy for everyone.

Update #5: LAST UPDATE UNTIL RELEASE. STOP OFFERING MONEY/DONATIONS I DON’T NEED THEM RIGHT NOW.. IF YOU FEEL LIKE BLOWING MONEY ON THINGS SEND IT TO “The Electronic Frontiers Foundation“.

How to make money quick with Google Adsense

Posted by EliteTek on Dec 16, 2011 in Websites & Gadgets

Want to be like this above guy?… Read below, or don’t.. it’s up to you.

It’s been bothering me for a while.. this whole Google adsense thing. People publish hundreds of “HowTO” guides or “GetRichQuick” adsense success stories.

To be completely honest winning at Google adsense isn’t easy, and trying to get clicks or orientating users of your website towards the ads becomes extremely difficult when your advertisment possitions clog up your website and some what destroys the look and feel of your website.

More or less it’s like getting a spray pain can and drawing pictures of dicks on the side of your house. No one really wants to see them, and the only way to get around them is to run through the door and try not to look, whilst running through the door they’ll coincidently  hit one thus giving you $1-2.

Ridiculously unrelated story beside, the trick is getting users wanting to click these ads. This at the end of the day comes down to one thing.. ORIGINAL CONTENT. Making sure you’re blog / website is updated twice to three times weekly with original content is a must, content which also trends with current google hype and real life events and news is a plus.

For example last month a trending search was Demonoid and TorrentBytes invite related queries and because i had invites available for both of these sites i openly made two posts advising people that i was giving them out.  Within hours after making that post i had an 80% boost in traffic all search engine traffic and fully organic. These users posted 130+ comments in one month and also stuck around and read other posts and became active users of the blog.

I’m not saying you need to bait your users with treats all the time.. Just every now and then, it’s pretty much a quick steroid injection into all of the major search engines, but when doing it make sure what you’re offering is currently trending on most search engines and social networks. There’s many sites that pull these stats and aggrigate them all in the one location.

Moral of the story is, google ads are ugly as hell, but at the end of the day pay. Work with them properly and the ugliness pays off.

A beautiful Steve Jobs quote, letterpressed. Here’s to the crazy ones.

Posted by EliteTek on Dec 7, 2011 in Uncategorized

It’s not uncommon to see some of Steve Jobs’ more memorable quotes become memorialized in one fashion or another since his passing. One of the most famous, however, is getting a bit of special treatment, with a good cause gathering the benefits.

The team over at Brightwurks (parent company of TNW-profiled Help Scout) has produced a beautifully-designed letterpress poster of Jobs’ “Here’s to the crazy ones”. Even better? 100% of the sales profits go to benefit the Acumen Fund, a charity helping to tackle poverty.

crazyones poster 520x1350 Heres to the crazy ones gets its own beautiful, letterpress poster to benefit charity

“The now iconic quote debuted in a 1997 television commercial for Apple Computer. The text was said to have been mostly written by then Apple CEO Steve Jobs. He embodied the characteristics in this quote arguably better than anyone in history. Today it lives on as a mantra for artists, inventors, entrepreneurs and innovators around the world.”

The poster is printed on 140# paper and measures 10 inches wide by 26 inches tall. Unframed, it costs $95, or you can have it framed professionally and sent to you for $195. Unfortunately it’s only available to be shipped to the United States, but perhaps that will change some time in the future as the goal right now seems to be getting them into buyers’ hands before Christmas.

So pony up, get a beautifully-done poster and help out a good cause while you’re at it. Oh, and if you need a reminder, here’s the quote, spoken by the man himself.

Posted by EliteTek on Dec 4, 2011 in Design & Graphics

Hey Guys, Yes i understand it’s been a massive long time since i did my last post, so here it is.

Kerry Callen is one of my “must follow” bloggers! Recently one of her posts popped up in my RSS feed and i absolutely had to share it. What she’s done is basically animate various famous comic book covers. I myself am a massive nerd and have collection tons of comic books, which over time you get used to seeing in a non-moving state. Seeing these comics bought to life is pretty god damn nostalgic. Anyways, I’ll link to them below, enjoy!

Semi-working build of 2.3.5 on the HP TouchPad – DUMP / Instructions – TOUCHDROID

Posted by EliteTek on Sep 8, 2011 in Hacking & Exploits

Well it appears fnj00 from the TouchDroid team has released all current progress via the TouchDroid website. As of now please be careful when flashing your device as we don’t know if this is a brickable build.

Thanks to the TouchDroid team for the work you’ve done so far, it’s just a shame things happened the way they did.

fnj00 » Thu Sep 08, 2011 3:23 pm
Hello Community!I have decided to release a system dump from my TouchPad which contains a semi-working build of Android 2.3.5 with working touchscreen on the HP TouchPad. Please use this data and the below steps on installation as you see fit. I hope this release will light a fire under the community to work together on a full working port!

People posting in the original thread on the TouchDroid website have confirmed that this build does boot/flash.

craig0r » Thu Sep 08, 2011 6:50 pm
Got it booting nicely!Only problem is, there doesn’t seem to be a way to go “back” or “home.” I suppose this issue will remain until some tablet soft-buttons get added though. As for now, I’m stuck looking at the battery information until I reboot. :P

Get the system dump and android.uImage here – touch-droid.torrent
Mirror is here: http://randomshit.dreamhosters.com/TouchPad/

**Place these files in your novaterm installation folder as they will be referenced there later in this installation tutorial**

Steps on installing this onto your TouchPad -

0. Plug your HP Touchpad into your PC via USB and DONT MOUNT IT.

1. First you will need novaterm/novacom. Follow steps at the following URL to get both installed on your machine -

http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Portal:Accessing_Linux

2. Open a command prompt / terminal window and type the following:

Code:
novaterm

3. We will need to create partitions for android on the device. Run all commands in novaterm:

Resize /media first:

Code:
lvm.static lvresize -L -1706M /dev/store/media
lvm.static lvcreate -L 10M -n android-persist store
lvm.static lvcreate -L 32M -n android-etc store
lvm.static lvcreate -L 320M -n android-system store
lvm.static lvcreate -L 320M -n android-cache store
lvm.static lvcreate -L 1024M -n android-data store

Create partitions for android:

Code:
mkfs.ext3 /dev/store/android-cache
mkfs.ext3 /dev/store/android-data
mkfs.ext3 /dev/store/android-etc
mkfs.ext3 /dev/store/android-persist
mkfs.ext3 /dev/store/android-system

4. Mount the system partition on /tmp/system (in novaterm).

Code:
mkdir /tmp/system/
mount -o loop -t ext3 /dev/mapper/store-android--system /tmp/system/

5. Open a new command/terminal window and run the following:

**Do this in cmd/terminal not novaterm**

Code:
novacom put file://tmp/system/system.tar.bz < system.tar.bz

6. Unzip system.tar.bz and move files to /tmp/system/ (in novaterm):

Code:
cd /tmp/system/
tar -xvf system.tar.bz
cd system
mv * ../
cd ..
rm -rf system

7. Run the following to unmount /tmp/system:

Code:
cd /
umount /tmp/system

8. Now boot into bootie by running the following in novaterm:

Code:
tellbootie recover

9. Open a new command/terminal window and change to your novaterm folder and run the following:

Code:
novacom boot mem:// < android.uImage

10. Start pressing Volume UP on the TouchPad until you see a purple line on the right hand side.

11. If all steps were followed correctly you should boot right into Android 2.3.5 and have a working touchscreen.

Anroid to the HP TouchPad port, if you do it.. You’re $1,500 richer!

Posted by EliteTek on Aug 22, 2011 in Hacking & Exploits
HP-TouchPad-Android-600x476

This weekend’s TouchPad fire sale has more or less petered out, and thousands of HP’s little tablets that couldn’t have found new homes. Not everyone seems to love WebOS though, as a growing number of people who bought bargain-bin TouchPads are clamoring for a tablet experience that’s a bit more… shall we say, relevant.

Thanks to its open nature, Android is the OS of choice for a TouchPad port, and now the folks at a modding community called HackNMod are offering bounties to the devs that can make it happen.

The total amount of money up for grabs is $1500, but it’s broken down into several parts, so multiple devs will get a chance at a payout.

Whoever is first able to get a “basic Android port” up and running on the TouchPad nets $400. HackNMod doesn’t elaborate on what exactly constitutes a “basic port,” but presumably the device would have to boot into Android with a decent degree of stability. The sub-bounties run the gamut as far as payout: the team that gets WiFi to work nabs $350, the audio team gets $300, and the multitouch team gets $100.

As with all things, there is a bit of a catch: while the $450 for the Android port itself comes out of HackNMod’s pockets, the rest are being left up to sponsors. In a way, it’s the perfect system for a project like this: the features with the highest demand are (hopefully) the ones that will be funded. Interested parties can also throw in money for other features they want to see working, leading to more sub-bounties for eager devs to jump on.

Itching to throw your hat in the ring? Be sure to post your code on GitHub and provide photo & video evidence. Ready, go!
