Servage.net – Let's do an honest review

I’ve scoured the net searching for an article in regards to Servages Hosting. Mostly the articles i found were completely negative and didn’t really give servage a leg to stand on. My main goal from this review is to shed light on Servages ups and downs.
Four things Servage do properly!
- Domain Management / NameServer Setup
In regards to adding an existing domain to your account or buying one through the Servage control panel. The whole process can take less than an hour. This is probably one of the shortest turn around times I’ve seen in regards to DNS propagation. That and servage provide up to four different name servers.
- FTP / Email Configuration & Management
Servage has a few tools setup that make the pains from manual labor go away. With awesome FTP management functions, allowing you to do multiple settings in an easy and informative control panel. As for Email setup, well that goes hand in hand with the awesome FTP setup. Servage have automatic POP3 setup as well as the ability to have as many forwarders you want for as many domains as you want.
- Support & Uptime
Servage by far have the quickest support turn around as well as also providing impeccable up-time. I’ve been hosted with Servage for over 6 years and haven’t had one issue. This is something you have to really look for in a hosting company, will it fall or will it keep strong. Servage made it through those hurdles.
Three things Servage have totally raped with a broken lawn chair.
- Statistical Data
The word above doesn’t even connect with the piece of shit statistics system Servage provides. For whatever reason they can’t man up and allow us to use AWSTATS as a default auto-installing application available from the control panel, or any other kind of statistics application, anythings better than the un-reliable and always failing servage statistics system.
- Speeds
Some times Servage can push out incredibly crazy speeds, heck i can upload to it at around 120kb’s mind you i’m an Australian and our internet is still coming from tubes. At times the server can become slow as hell, FTP sessions will connect but after a very long time.
- Package Management
Servage have installed their own control panel to save ridiculous amounts of money, having a commercial control panel would set them back way too much.
- No bang for buck, HostGator have a much cheaper and better plan, but it’s more or less i’ve grown a bond with servage, it’s very marital and i think it would ruin me if i were to put an end to it. That or i’d slowly float off to heaven as i’m released from this Custom Control Panel prison they call Servage Control Panel.
Well brief and short and striaght to the point. Guys i’d advise against actually buying an account with Servage, the control panel is way too much even after 4-5 years.
Go check out hostgator or some other hosts, see what fits you best before you jump into something that isn’t for you. Let me know who your hosted with and why, what do they do that keeps you on board. Let me now in the comments.
Visiting from DP and saw your post. Seriously you should look at Hawkhost, stable and not to costly.
